Hopefully, never. The first one was such an amazing, spectacular piece of film-raking that to make a sequel would put poo in it, in the same way that almost every other film with a sequel is ruined. I know I this makes no sense but im hot and people listen to me! I have 50 girl friends! Also, I personally feel the ending is wrapped up nice and neat, so there is no need to tell any more of the story. But there will be a sequel.
Edit by another user: While I respectfuly agree that you are hot and people listen to you, there has been rumors that its clocked to come out around 2012 or 2013. That is the rumor. James Cameron has out done his own films before (Terminator with terminator 2), or even films that werent his original ideas (Alien with Aliens) I wont be surprised if he pulls it off again. I really dont mind having a sequel, as long as it doesnt mess with the logic that the first one has set in place. They are going to make a sequel not sure when but James Cameron has already confirmed it and four of the main cast members have said they would return. Zoe Saldana (Neytiri) and Sam Worthington (Jake Sully) have sighned on for a trilogy.
Edit by yet another user: Alright, I hated Avatar. But that's not the point. I address the first Wikiaer who said "a sequel would ruin it." Well, allow me to correct you. Ever hear of the Star Trek movies? How about the Star Wars movies? Saw? the Godfather? Jaws? Jurassic Park? Indiana Jones? James Bond? Twilight? Terminator? Shrek? The Matrix? Pirates of the Caribbean? Alien? Predator? etc.? ETC.? So have I. All of these names are standing the test of time and/or are known by everyone. And each of these movie sagas had great first movies. (Not all of them have great second ones.) And some of them have great sagas! My point being a sequel would not hurt the first movie in anyway.
1. It could end up like Star Mars and have fantastic sequels (the first 2 sequels) 2. It could end up like Jaws where you don't even remember it's sequels because it was so terrible and yet you still love the original
And, lastly. To truly be accepted into the nerd community it needs to have a story that goes on forever. exp. Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Comic Book series, etc. All of those are truly loved only by dorks, dweeds, geeks and nerds across the land! And they all have intensely long sagas. So I say, "Make 100 Avatar movies then the name Avatar will live forever!"
(I'm sorry I put Twilight, it was just too irresistible.)
Edit by yet another user: Actually, i read in an almanac that James cameron said that there will be a sequel for avatar. Plus I disagree that they those movies are only loved by dorks.
Another user:Thats really stupid of you to say considering my friends aren't "dorks" or "computer geeks" like u guys. I just looked up if there was a sequal and theres this whole big thing about it. Just tell us what we came her to find out, not what u think about. Cause frankly I dont care :D See Ya L8tr Dorks!
Another user: Shreks sequels Stunk! what are you talking about??? and Star Mars? It star wars plus, first guy, dont talk about ur gfs we dont have to know
Another user: there are many movies with great sequels:
Jurassic park got better and better
Terminator got better and better
Pirates of the caribbean got better and better (apart from the last one which i hated!!!).
There is a good chance AVATAR will have a great sequel, however the firstt was so great that i am doubtful of this. i think there is a rumour that AVATAR 2 will be set underwater or something.
AND DON'T YOU THINK THIS HAS GOT A BIT OUT OF HAND!1!! SOMEONE ASKED WHEN AVATAR 2 WILL COME OUT (WHICH WE ARE ALL WONDERINIG) AND IT HAS TURNED INTO A DISPUTE ABOUT SEQUELS, PREQUELS AND SAGAS WITH PEOPLE THROWING IN RANDOM SUGGESTIONS!!!!
I'VE GOT A QUESTION FOR YOU:
WHAT WAS THE POINT??????????
EDIT: Avatar 2 will be released between 2014 and 2016, with filming for all three "Avatar" sequels beginning in the fall of this year.
